Scripture Only Application
For those of you who have iphones or itouches I want to recommend a new application created by my good friend Tyler Brassfield. One of my favorite things to study is church history. Even if I wasn’t a preacher I would probably still read a lot of books on church history. In doing this I have read a lot of sermons as well. From time to time I would come across a sermon that was scripture only. Someone would choose a topic like the life of Jesus, grace, forgiveness, etc. and then find scriptures to go along with that topic and present that without any commentary. I have done this once before and I was surprised at the reaction I received from the congregation. They enjoyed the emphasis on scripture. In preaching our emphasis should always be on the word of God. Tyler has been gracious enough to create an application which features scripture only devotionals. This application can be used for personal use or you can take these devotionals and use them at your church. Go to the itunes store and look up “scripture only”. It is the application with the 3:16 icon.
Wow, I’ve got to say, (as a completely neutral party), that this looks like one of the best iPhone apps I’ve seen. This Tyler guy seems to have it figured out.
In all seriousness, I will try to put the new devotionals up each Wednesday afternoon.
