Resurrected Living
"What are you going to do with your new resurrected life? This is the heroic question." Richard Rohr

The Resurrection

I think I would be safe in saying that the resurrection is the central tenant of Christianity.  After all it is because of the resurrection that we worship on the first day of the week.  If it were not for the resurrection what happened at the cross would not matter.  It was because of the resurrection that the disciples fully committed themselves to Christ and sharing the gospel with all the world.  If the resurrection did not happen we would be left without any hope of an afterlife.  The resurrection separates the Christian faith from all others.

Many people will go to church today because of the resurrection.  They may not show up again until Christmas or next Easter, but the resurrection brings them out.  I am glad that many people will focus on the resurrection today and devote their services to it, but I am sad that this will not happen again until next year.  The resurrection deserves more than one day.  The resurrection does not call us to be faithful one day of the year, but every day of the year.  Once we truly realize the significance of the resurrection our lives will never be the same.

“I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies.”  John 11:25

“Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.”  1 Pet. 1:3
