Resurrected Living
"What are you going to do with your new resurrected life? This is the heroic question." Richard Rohr

Restoring Community

We were created in the image of God to live in community just as God does (Father, Son, Holy Spirit).  We are born with a yearning for community and we keep this with us for a little while, but for many the yearning fades.  This happens for several reasons.  The world tells us we can make it on our own and we buy into this notion of self sufficiency.  Sometimes we are a part of a community that does not accept us or mistreats us in a certain way.  Other times we simply grow out of our yearning for community because we forget how valuable it really is.

Jesus tells us to become like little children and I believe we need to heed this advice when it comes to community.  Children need community in order to develop properly.  They learn and grow within community.  Children do not allow distinctions such as class, skin color, wealth, education, etc. to divide them.  Children are excited about community and they allow it to encourage them and lift them up.  There are so many important things about community we forget as we grow older.

God created the church for us to live and grow in community, so that one day we may live in the heavenly community with Him.  The church is the in between community.  It is on earth, but it is not of the earth.  It consists of those who have been called out of their previous lifestyle to live a holy life devoted to God.  The church is not in heaven, but it is yearning to go there and longs for the return of Christ.  Until that time may we all learn to appreciate our present community that God has blessed us with.
