Resurrected Living
"What are you going to do with your new resurrected life? This is the heroic question." Richard Rohr

You Are Not Alone

When we suffer we often feel as though we are alone.  It is true that no person on this earth knows exactly how we feel at any given moment.  We can experience similar tragedies and not know how the other person feels because we process events differently and we have different life experiences that may influence how we feel.  With all that said, it is still important that we share our feelings with one another.  This can help the grieving process.  God commands us to live in community because it is for our benefit.  We need the support of others when tragic events happen to us.  It is important for the grieving individual to seek this support when the time is right, and it is important for the church to provide the proper support needed at that time.

Even though we may feel as though we are alone and others do not know exactly how we feel there is One who knows us better than we do.  The writer of Hebrews says, “For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who in every respect has been tested as we are, yet without sin” (Heb. 4:15).  Jesus not only knows us better than we know ourselves, but He has suffered, experienced loss, endured temptation, and even encountered death.  Whatever we are going through Jesus understands.  He knows exactly how we feel.  Whenever we are going through a crisis it is important that we converse with God about our experience and the feelings we may have.

The greatest tragedy Jesus experienced was the cross.  No matter how bad our suffering becomes we will probably never experience anything as brutal as the accusations, beatings, torture, and death that Jesus endured on our behalf, but His suffering was not in vain.  Jesus’ suffering led to the greatest story of hope this world has ever known.  He endured the horrors of Friday to share the joy of Sunday.  He went to the cross, so we could share in His resurrection.  No matter what our trial may be there is always hope on the other side.

You’re Not Alone
Lyrics By Jeff Tweedy

You’re not alone
I’m with you
I’m lonely too

What’s that song
Can’t be sung
By two?

A broken home
A broken heart
Isolated and afraid
Open up this is a raid
I wanna get it through to you
You’re not alone

You’re not alone
Every night
I stand in your place

Every tear
On every face
Tastes the same

A broken dream
A broken heart
Isolated and afraid
Open up this is a raid
I wanna get it through to you
You’re not alone

An open hand
An open heart
There’s no need to be afraid
Open up this is a raid
I wanna get it through to you
You’re not alone
I wanna get it through to you
You’re not alone
I’m gonna get it through to you
You’re not alone
